After 25 years working locally as a sole trader in the construction industry Insight Home Improvements Ltd was created by Tom Stroud as an opportunity to team up with his son Noah, to pass on the skills and knowledge. To hand down the Insight.
Starting out as a bricklayer, as did two family generations before him, a perpetual curiosity, thirst for knowledge and a “if you want something doing right, do it yourself” attitude has led to Tom becoming proficient in many other trades including carpentry, plastering, tiling, plumbing, electrics and ground work. This broad knowledge of every step in the building process is the key to delivering great results.
The name and branding may be new, but the honest owner-led service is still very much at the forefront providing the same approachable, courteous manner and the knowledge and experience to help guide projects from concept to completion.

Tom Stroud carried out a complete modernisation of a bathroom by turning it into a large shower room. This involved taking out a bath and replacing it with a large shower unit which did not fit exactly, so some stud work was needed. The plumbing had to be rerouted and an electric shower installed. The washbasin also moved from one wall to another again involving new pipe work.
The whole job was carried out efficiently, cleanly and on time. I was very impressed with his organising ability to get over problems and would wholeheartedly recommend Tom.

Our back garden was looking very tired: a large, broken crazy paving patio; tired, worn out, slippery decking and a crumbling retaining wall. I contacted Tom to see if he could replace everything with a new wall and patio. It was a very large area and quite challenging in places. Tom suggested the design and choice of patio slabs (Indian sandstone) and bricks.
We went on holiday knowing we could trust Tom and his team to work their magic in our absence. When we returned, we were greeted with a spectacular new patio, retaining wall and appropriate drainage. A few years later and the patio looks as good as new. The overall cost was in line with Tom’s original estimate too! Thank you Tom.
